Another Challenger

   Posted by: joshuah

I was recently removed from another discussion group, due to our conviction concerning Plural Marriage. Although Plural Marriage was never a topic during my time in this particular group, it seems as though I was penalized for the tumult that various members of the group experienced, after they had decided to come to our site and read things that they found difficult to comprehend, or accept. I fear that they are ashamed of God’s Word.

Well, one of the young ladies (the moderator) from this group wrote to me, and stated the following:

“I pray you come to redemption”

This was a rather interesting comment to make, and indicates that she has determined that I am not redeemed. Sounds an awful lot like judging to me, which would not be wrong if she used the standard of God’s Word to do so. Further correspondence with this girl produced the following:

Also, I judge not. The Lord judges you. Polygamy is a sin, your claim it is not is based upon Old Testament references. My faith is strong enough to be challenged. The Spirit within me confirms that polygamy is indeed a sin. I judge not, I simply see sin and pray that the person sees the error their ways and repents while there is still time.

Your references are Old Testament, I know that nothing in the New Testament upholds it…I’m sorry that you are in error.

This is probably the 347th time I have heard such statements, and so I invited this girl to come to the blog and prove her claims.

In terms of plural marriage, I don’t recall ever discussing it before with you, or with anyone else in the group other than *edited*, who seemed to have no position on the matter, and fail to see what this has to do with my participation in the group…well, as you can imagine, I have encountered this type of treatment many times before, and am fully aware of the motivations behind it, even if you are not.

Regardless, your position on plural marriage seems to be based upon your own understanding, and it would indeed seem as though you are the one who is judging. I would ask that you test that spirit that you claim to possess against Scripture, as we are commanded to do. You claim that plural marriage is sin, but can you show me where God’s word does? No.

It also seems as though you speak without knowing, because I base my understanding of the validity of plural marriage on Scripture, and Scripture alone, both Old and New Testaments. This has been stated publically many many times, including on our website. Really, you haven’t done your homework.

So, if you are capable and willing, I invite you to take this matter public on our blog, and prove that plural marriage is sin, rather than simply accuse and judge…and do so using Scripture. Sola Scriptura.

I do not mind defending our position publically, and with Scripture alone, but I would ask that you come prepared, in order to avoid rehashing the same lame arguments, such as “I just know it is wrong.” I am not sorry that you lack understanding, if you are strong enough to stand up for what you claim to believe and possess a teachable spirit. You have been presented with the opportunity to learn and grow, and I sincerely hope that you take the opportunity. So, go to our blog and reply to the post I will place there, and we can proceed.

PS. And please dont fall back on things such as “we are to avoid vain babbling” and so forth, as you are the one who has judged my redemption…stand behind what you claim, and earnestly contend for the faith.

I now eagerly await her arrival. :-)

P.S. Well, I heard back from the young lady sooner than expected.

You are wicked and evil. I have no need to defend my beliefs of the Truth as presented in the Holy Scriptures. I sense pure evil in you and I would even go so far as to refer to you as a witch. I pray Holiness finds you soon, you are too far gone to the devil I fear though…..Do not email me again witch….

So much for her possessing the gift of discernment, and so much for judgements being made outside the Word of God. I think that says it all, does it not? Well, no it doesn’t. Scripture says it all, and better.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: reach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 2 Timothy 4:1-4

Apparently this girl is not ready yet.
