Here is the new lesson for this week – enjoy:
As you grow up, dear lady in training, there is one thing you need to remember: There are no people more important than your family. Your parents, your siblings, your grandparents, even aunts and uncles, cousins – these people are your brethren first and foremost, and until you marry into your future husband’s family, your family is the group of people who you learn and benefit from, and who benefits from your skills and talents.

Please remember that ladies do not just sit around looking pretty…. Here is the new lady lesson to consider:
If so far you had the impression that ladies mainly sit around, behave well, eat crumpets, drink tea and generally look pretty, I have to disappoint you, dear lady in training. An important part of a lady’s general disposition is her positive attitude towards work. Not only does she work diligently and avoid idleness, no, she seeks work out, joyfully so, takes responsibility and does everything that benefits first her father’s, and later her husband’s household.

A little late, but here it is: The new lady lesson is out ! Enjoy.
Nowadays, girls oftentimes only think of purity in terms of entering marriage untouched. This particular area of purity is particularly important because once you become “one flesh” with a man, he is your husband before God, and there is to be only one husband in your life.
While this is certainly a purity to protect and to reserve for your future husband, dear lady in training, it is by far not the only area in which purity matters. So what else is there to pay attention to in terms of purity ?

The new lady lesson is out, esteemed reader, and here is how is starts:
A few lessons ago I mentioned school, so let me explain what is wrong with school, or college for that matter. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying education is a bad thing, on the contrary. Education is very important, in every way. But school is not the way to go, neither is college. And here is why:

It’s Monday again, so here is the new Lady Lesson I am sure you have been waiting for already, esteemed lady-in-training:
Lady Lesson #6: A Woman’s Calling
Before we continue writing about things that further the development of lady-like attributes and attitudes, let us have a quick look at where all this is going to lead you, esteemed young lady in training. For all learning is easier and all teaching makes more sense when you know the goals, when you know which direction your education is headed, when you realize what “career” a lady strives for. After all, you are not educating yourself to be a lady for the sake of being a lady.

Lesson #5 is out – Enjoy.
“My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.” (Pro 7:1-3)
Proverbs 7 addresses the son in particular, but the commandment expressed here is a general command too, so it is also addressed to every young God fearing lady. Keeping God’s commandment, being obedient to His word, is nothing heavy or burdensome, but a delight instead, a treasure, something very precious that you enjoy doing, both inwardly and outwardly. Jesus tells us that obedience to Him is an easy yoke, a light burden (Mat 11:30), and John repeats this in his first letter.
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” (1Jn 5:3)
Please keep this in mind as you read the following lesson…

Lady Lesson #4 deals with the principle of obedience, while lady lesson #5 will deal with the practical side of it. Stay tuned for lesson #5 which will be published next Monday, and enjoy Lady Lesson #4 until then:
Let me come now to THE essential attitude in every bible believing Christian’s life: Obedience. God requires obedience as THE sign of love his people can give him. And since it is God as the one and only all-powerful, all-knowing Creator and Lord who sets the rules, it is up to Him to decide what attitude or action on the part of his people will show Him their love. Keeping His commandments, abiding by His Law-Word is what God chose to be the fundamental essence and prerequisite of worship. (…)
“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecc 12:13)
“Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1Jn 2:4)

Now being trained to be a lady sounds an awful lot as if things are going to be done to you, esteemed lady-in-training. Many people think about education in general as something being done to them, but if that is actually the case, there is no value in their education at all. Whatever is done to you will only last as long as the one doing it to you has control over you, and when you move on, nothing much will be left but the vague feeling of “having been educated” with nothing practical to it, not even an idea of what to do next with your education. Many young people leave school with this feeling. We will have more to say about school in a later lesson.
Profitable and lasting education, however, is what you do for yourself.

Lady Lesson #2 is the first lesson, really… Lady Lesson #1 gave you an idea what we are talking about, a list of things to consider, and hopefully it also made you curious
In Lady Lesson #2 you will find your first thing to remember, the first and most important of all things.
If you wish to become a lady or raise your daughters to be ladies, there is one thing that stands at the beginning of this training. There is one thing you cannot do without, unless your training to become a lady will be for naught. If you and your daughters don’t have this one thing, you will not be ladies, but haughty, self-centered snobs when your training is done. You will take all the wrong things from the right lessons and will be arrogant and prideful rather than virtuous women when the day is done.
If you want to be a lady, you need to have a standard to go by, an eternal standard that does not change with times and seasons, and standard that has been true since the beginning of time and remains true until the end of time. If you go by the values and ideals of the time you are living in, or a time 100 years back, you are deceived. Read Isaiah 3:16-26 for an example of “ladies” who went by the standard of their times.

Our first “Lady Lesson” is published:
In our introduction, we said that many things secular society suggests as “normal” are in fact inappropriate for a lady, and a girl that is in training to be a lady. In this first lesson, we will present you with a random list of examples of appropriate and inappropriate behavior for ladies, and you can see for yourself which of these might be considered normal in today’s society.
- Ladies speak quietly and don’t yell.
- Ladies speak proper language.
- Ladies are well educated.
- Ladies avoid worthless entertainment.

We are starting a new section on Joshuah’s House today, a section on how to be a lady. You will find the individual articles announced here on the blog, a new article on the subject each week to come, as time allows. Here is how the introduction tot he new series starts:
“How wonderful it is to see a well behaved young girl, a real young lady. How wonderful, and how rare the sight has become ! The sad truth is, even if a girl of the 21st century aspires to be a lady when she is an adult, there is precious little guidance and advice for her out there in the world, to guide her in her youth into the right direction and onto the right path. The reasons for this are multifarious, but can be summarized as follows: …”
