When modern day Christians discover something in the Scriptures that they like, or “feel led to do”, they often turn around and tell all the world how happy, thankful, amazed they are at how the Lord is working in their lives.

Where has the Fear of the Lord gone, I wonder…

When King Josiah, who “did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the way of David his father, and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left” (2Ki 22:2), was confronted with the hitherto lost Book of the Law that Hilkiah the priest had found, he “tore his clothes”.  He knew that “great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.” (2Ki 22:11; 13)

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” (Psa 111:10)

Here is how Jesus defines “love”:

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (Joh 14:15)

There. No need for any lengthy explanations. And if you are unsure about the “commandments” part, try Exo 20 or Deu 5 for clarification.
